The only things you need to bring with you
To apply for permanent residency, you'll need your apostilled diploma, your temporary residency card and your Cedula. If you don’t have a diploma, we can help you obtain tax residency in Paraguay — so an apostilled diploma is no longer required.
Please note that the immigration authorities conduct a criminal background check in Paraguay (registered traffic violations are not taken into account).
You can start this process during the final 3 months of your temporary residency up to 1 month after your temporary residency has expired. However, a late filing penalty (multa) will apply.
After this 1-month period, it is no longer possible to switch to permanent residency. In that case, you can only apply for a prórroga (extension) of your temporary residency, for a maximum of 6 months — also subject to a penalty.
