The one thing you need to bring with you

The only document required for permanent residency is an apostilled diploma to demonstrate solvency. If you don’t have one, we can help you obtain tax residency in Paraguay — so an apostilled diploma is no longer required.

Please note that the immigration authorities conduct a criminal background check in Paraguay (registered traffic violations are not taken into account).

You can start this process during the final 3 months of your temporary residency up to 1 month after your temporary residency has expired. However, a late filing penalty (multa) will apply.

After this 1-month period, it is no longer possible to switch to permanent residency. In that case, you can only apply for a prórroga (extension) of your temporary residency, for a maximum of 6 months — also subject to a penalty.
